What’s Ortigas Center?
The picture above is the intersection of Shell along Ortigas Ave.
Privately owned city : Ortigas Center
The Ortigas Center is home to Manila’s largest power company Meralco and Filipino beer San Miguel.
A lot of names of places in the Philippines are remnants of the Spanish era, and these names have Spanish origin.
But, surprise! the Ortigas Center is “privately owned city”!
One recommended place in Ortigas
I introduce one place in the Ortigas Center where we can walk and enjoy at night.
Greenfield Weekend Market
Greenfield Weekend Market is held every Saturday from 4 am to midnight.
As well as Filipino cuisine, there are many stalls with cakes, kebabs, fruits, grilled chickens and so on.
There are shops such as handmade shops and used records, and it is fun to find bargains!
We can also listening to live band music and spend the night with some side dishes and San Miguel beer under the night sky.
That is great!
How to get to Greenfield Weekend Market
Please head towards the Greenfield District.
By car is quick and fast, but if you can go by train and walk from the MRT line Shaw Boulevard Station.
Hotels with good pools in Ortigas Center
There are many hotels in Ortigas,
I would like to introduce accommodations where I have not heard bad reviews from “the hotels that I have actually stayed” or “the hotels arranged when I invited my clients from Japan”.
Personally, I liked “Marco Polo Ortigas Manila” because it is new and beautiful hotel.
If you like to swim, you should take “Edsa Shangri-La Manila” or “Marco Polo Ortigas”.
They have great pools!
