「UI/UXデザインやユーザビリティを英語で学ぶ」のにちょうどよい洋書を、私、ちょうど読み終えましたので紹介します。
Don’t Make Me Think（考えさせないで）
アメリカのUI/UXデザインスクールの教科書として採用している本だというので、Amazonで買って読んでみました。
Webのユーザビリティについての解説本ですが、マニュアルやあらゆるドキュメントのコンテンツ設計にも共通する、効果的な見せ方やユーザビリティについて、実例を交えて解説しています。
コンテンツの作り方については、もっとテクニカルな内容を期待して買ったのですが、そういうのではなく、基礎理論についての解説書です。
Webページを前にしたときのユーザーの視点の動き方や、効果的なタブやボタンの形状や色など。
すでにテクニカルライティングやUIデザインに携わっている方には、あまり面白くないかもしれませんが、復習や傍らにおいて適宜参照する用途として良くまとまっています。
一方、ユーザビリティを勉強中の学生さんなどには、英語の勉強も同時にできて一挙両得でしょう。
